Beware of 1954 Corvette scam listing on eBay -- my car is being "sold" by a scammer!!

I hope there aren't any NCRS members bidding on eBay item #331115263412. An eBay seller (with zero feedback) is using pictures of my car copied from the web site of R&H Motor Car Group in Salon, OH, (where it was for sale in 2011) to auction off my car. I reported (twice) the listing to eBay as fraudulent the same morning it was listed but it remains active with 6 bidders and 11 bids and ends on Feb 1. I assure you that my car is not for sale and item #33111526341 is a scam.

Wow, that is truly amazing, but at the low price, it is guaranteed to get bids.

I suggest everyone here report it to ebay. They usually ignore one, maybe two reports, but once they get three or four, they pull the plug.

You can see the legitimate 2011 listing for the car at R&H Motor Cars Group's web site at: www.rhcollectibles.com/web/used/Chevrolet-Corvette-1954-Solon-Ohio/790210/ I hadn't noticed before, but the scammer even stole the descriptive text from the R&H ad to use in the eBay listing. Yes, Ed, if a number of us reported it to eBay, it might help.

I submitted a complaint last night but as of now it's still listed. I notice that the current high bidder has 0 feedback as well which is usually the indicator of a shill bidder.

I tried to submit a report and screwed it up so I called and talked, kind of talked as I don't speak Philippines, to a human at Ebay. She said it takes 48 to 72 hours to respond to a report. This guy could be in the Philippines by then with enough money to have a good time.

Peter, I think as the owner of the car you should "File a Claim" with the IC3. I found their link on the eBay Vehicle Payment Protection (VPP). http://www.ic3.gov/default.aspx
They work in conjuction with the FBI. We should want more than just the listing taken down, we should demand that the scammer goes to jail. The issue with this listing is that it will be taken down eventually, but the scammer has already got the ad and their phone number out there and will continue to work the John (I say that because he is going to get screwed!) out side of eBay so they won't be liable. I had a co-worker have this exact thing happen to him. Ebay said sorry. The scammer was in Arizona, not Nigeria and the FBI still wouldn't due anything after the fact. If they find out about it before it happens maybe they can put together a sting.

              Here's hoping.

Actually I looked at the IC3 web site this AM. Given the frustration of working with eBay, I may just do that.

This morning I submitted a complaint to the Internet Crime Complaint Center (a partnership between the FBI and the White Collar Complaint Center). Yesterday, my daughter emailed the scammer and asked for additional pictures, including a picture of the VIN plate. He sent them. In case there was any doubt in anyone's mind, the VIN plate clearly shows the VIN of my car, which is not for sale. Attached is a picture of his email response where he discusses payment using Google Wallet and provides the additional pictures (all readily available from the R&H Motor Group web site), including the one of my VIN plate. Needless to say, despite all the reports to eBay from me and other NCRS members, the fraudulent listing remains active on eBay with 8 bidders (including a possible shill bidder), 29 bids, and a price of $40,101, with 2 days and 5 hours to go.

Maybe you should put in a bid for say $6,000,000, win the auction, and make other arrangements for payment. Do one of those ransom drop offs then jump his ****. What could he do to you, take your car back.

Very interesting email back to you. Doesn't sound like a Nigerian or Eastern European/Russian scammer, as they usually are. And I wonder how they are going to get their deposit if you have to release it from Google Wallet? They must be lying about that.

Well always remember a lot of criminals are STUPID. The cell number is active as it shows on this website and the city/state is within range.
Maybe notify the police? Perhaps they can trace it and bust this buffoon?

Some one named Father Jeremy tried to scam my son out of his 77 Cutlas years ago. We contacted the FBI and they took over the investigation. The check that my son recieved for the car was so perfect that it would have taken 6 mos to be found fake and he would have lost money and car.
