    GM 3709568 Spring Washer

What exactly is this washer? It is called out in the AIM for the reverse lever on the manual trans. Sheet B3-7

    Thanks,

    Bill

It's a spring washer aka wave washer.
    See here, in spring washers......http://www.gmpartswiki.com/getpage?pageid=1502

      Hi Bill.
      Cold this morning!
Your post made me take a look.
In 71 the spring washer (item#1) has a different part #(3903516) than you listed and is on the 1st/2nd lever's clevis connection.
It changed from 70 to 71? I wonder why?
If yours is missing I see them at my local Lowes.
      Regards,
      Alan

        Thank you.

You made me double check Alan. It is on the 1-2 clevis.

I will take the pin with me to Lowes to determine the size.

Might even have them at the little hardware sore up the road.

        Bill

          Hi Bill,
Look closely at the AIM page.... where does the washer go?
Right next to the cotter pin?
In the slot of the clevis itself... the pin then slides through it?
          ?
          Regards,
          Alan

Really hard to say with certainty but it sure looks like it goes in the middle of the clevis.

Do you agree? I am not sure what purpose it serves.

Always nice to begin the day with some new knowledge

It goes in the middle of the clevis and it's there to take up the space and keep from rattling. If you look closely after the lever is in the clevis there will be a little space and that's taken up by the washer.

I was not successful finding them locally but I don't remember checking at Lowes.

                Hi,
The washers I found at Lowes came in small plastic bags with both Pic-A-Nut (Germany) and Hillman (Taiwan) labeling. They are metric sizes.
I too read the drawing as having the washer in the clevis slot, but was unsure.
                Regards,

                  Alan,

Did you use the 10mm spring washer? The 8mm is too small and the 10mm is a bit big. I am thinking it may be 3/8" which converts somewhat to 10mm.

                  Bill

                    Hi Bill,
Yes, I used the 10 mm washer.
Putting it in the clevis slot, as appears to be the right location makes, it look o.k. size wise.
                    Regards,
                    Alan
