Question for Mr. Brigham regarding judging at national

    Dave,

I am bringing my '72 coupe to the national with the intention of obtaining the Duntov award on the car. The car also is original, although I screwed up and did a restoration on a couple of sections. My question, can I have the car both flight/Duntov judged as well as Star judged at the same national event?

    thanks

    Kurt,

If you don't have a Judging Reference Manual, recommend you order one.

Mark of Excellence Awards are addressed in Section 7. Final Judging at the Convention in #3.

At a Convention only one Judging Award entry per car ; either Flight or Duntov, but not both at the same Convention.

Yes, you may try for both Duntov (final Flight) and Star/Bowtie at the same convention, but I think it needs approval from Dave. As Gary suggests the specifics are spelled out in the JRM.

        Kurt,

JRM Section 13 covers applying to achieve both a Mark of Excellence and Star/Bowtie at the same Convention. Patrick is correct. However, that is not permitted very often IIRC since there are only 8 cars per Division.

No, I'm not Mr. B, but a sign off(s) at regional meet would be needed before the National Bowtie/Star judging. The "Duntov" judging is "flight" judging. It's preferred to have them done at the same National. Don't want to harm the originality.......

Thanks to everyone. Yes, I do have the JRM and have referred to it, hence the question to Dave. Guess I'll wait til he answers, hopefully before next Saturday early a.m.

Generally the Discussion Board is a moderately poor method of one-to-one communication no matter who you are trying to contact. In my previous dealings with Dave he has always responded quickly to direct e-mails or phone calls.

Given there is a Regional under way (Florida) I would not expect Dave to have time to look at this board, and he may not be monitoring his email very well either. We are all having too much fun.

Seriously: email him and wait for his response.

If we are lucky enough to have a car that is a candidate for both Duntov and Bowtie, the preferred way to handle this is to judge both at the same convention. Normal sign-offs and pre-quals apply to both Duntov and Bowtie (See JRM 8th Edition for sign-offs and pre-quals).
