    Roy's '67 L88

3.5 Million$ Not bad but guess I wouldn't want to have to pay all those taxes-he, he.

Guys I don't want to use up discussion board space with continued discussion on this subject.

This was the only known red/red L88 produced in 1967, it is the car that sold new at Mike Savoie Chevrolet. It was not the red/black L88 most of the other thread discusses.

I did not own this car in the purest sense (read it was not my money) I was the caretaker with all of the authority and credentials necessary to consign and sell the vehicle. The prior owner or owners deserved the opportunity to keep his/her/their name out of the limelight if they wished. I arranged the consignment with Barrett-Jackson, I was the consignor.

The agreement between me, Barrett-Jackson and the prior owner is our business and I would hope we are all capable of respecting that.

The car has a new owner, he is a car guy, he has young children who will no doubt inherit the car someday, he is a great guy and he can afford to enjoy the car or I suspect he would not have spent the money to buy it. It's value pales in comparison to some of his other vehicles.

With respect to the taxes I'd gladly pay the taxes to have the income. Or said another way owing a lot of taxes means you made a lot of money.

Sorry it wasn't your 3.5mil$, Roy. Was hoping to get a low interest loan from you to me, a fellow NCRS member.

THANK YOU ROY. I think we can put this to bed. I know it's none of our business but it sure made for a great mystery read for all us armchair kibitzer's. I am getting emails from friends that are not Corvette people asking about the L-88 so I think you & the seller have put our hobby & NCRS in the public eye. This is nothing but good.

Not trying to find who bought it if it's a secret, but don't understand why other aspects, including the price are hush hush . After all, Roy was on TV telling about the car prior to the auction and a Corvette going for 3.5 mil$, a good deal more than what a MB 300 went for is big news.

Don't understand the question. We watched the L-88 sell for 3.5 M. What am I missing? Is that not the price that was paid + the vig.

The sale price was no secret. I would imagine there were fees, commissions, and other dollars that change hands in a high end sale like that. Those are the part of the deal that would remain private, and should remain private if that is how the sellers / buyers want it. I'd do the same.
