      NO, the front cross member that appears to hold the radiator and the bumpers bolts in. The engine cross member is welded in.

      As far as the car in question goes, it sounds like a major project in every sense of the word. The birdcage issue will quickly become the determining factor on how much $$ will need to be put into the car. This could easily be one of those cars that is worth more in parts then done. If it is selling for <5k it might be worth it. Also a determining factor is how much work the new owner can do, especially if he is the owner of a fully equipped body shop.

        Ok, now I understand. In my mind what you describe is the radiator support and the cross member is the frame that goes under the engine. Got it now.

        I think you made a good decision to walk away.

        As far as Mr Edison goes, the CEO of our old company used to tell me "work smarter, not harder"............... I try to apply that to what I do and sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. (I suppose it depends on just how smart I am...........)

        Good luck with your hunt. Took me over a year to find my LS5 and it is a keeper.
