Another 70 TCS Clip this time on Trans Bolt

AIM shows it mounting to the upper trans bolt. Did all 70 corvettes with manual transmissions have this clip?

If so, any idea where to find one? Does anyone have one they can dimension? I may have found one very very similar. The one I found is .19 capacity x 1.25l x.62w x .34 hole. Squared off corners not rounded but that I can fix.

Below is a pic of an NOS clip. Not mine.

    Thanks, Bill

      Hi Bob,

Hopefully someone will chime in. I just want to confirm this clip was actually installed at the factory. It was used on quite a few GM vehicles up to 1972. Pretty sure I found a place that has the clips for about $6.95 plus shipping. Check out classic industries. It looks correct and they reference the correct GM part number. It is listed in their Muscle Car aka Chevelle, Monte Carlo, catalog.

Apparently there may be another clip that was part of the wiring harness related to the TCS as well. I have my original harness but see no evidence there was a clip on it. Now my harness tape is pretty much dry rotted and unraveled so it is vey possible that if there was a clip it is long gone.

Very interesting pic Larry. The clip is different in configuration than the GM clip based on the part number. The pic I posted is an actual NOS clip removed from the bag with the correct part number.

          The plot thickens.

              HI Terry,

Based on the part number, the clip in the first pic posted is out of an actual GM bag with the GM part number called out in the AIM. If this is the clip it is being reproduced and appears virtually identical. The second clip has been reproduced albeit in very limited quantities.

I was kinda hoping Terry M or another original/ survivor owner would have a picture or maybe pipe in on one, the other, or none of the above.

I suspect a lot of guys are making their way to the winter regional in Florida.

I am already in Florida, but my lack of research for you has more to do with the location of the car (not at home) than this weeks Regional. I know several people with original 1970s, but they are as far, and in some cases farther, than my car.

I have your question in mind and perhaps a nice original 1970 will show up here. BB or SB should not mater; just needs to be a manual trans.

Guys here what I found with a quick search of the internet. Hope this helps I know it is not OEM or NOS but. I can tell you my Sept build 71 never had this clip installed but then you never know. I have never noticed it on any 70-72 Bowtie car that I have judged but I most likely could have missed. A new item we now have to be aware of a new mission has started.

Have a photo of a 1972 showing the black wire going to the black clamp on the side of the foot well drivers side no clip on transmission mount bolt. Just as my 1971 the clamp is also used to secure the reverse switch wires.. For some reason can not down load photo even after resizing.

I can't easily get at my cars, but a review of both 72s shows no clip easily discernible on any photos I have taken. I see the TCS wire going through a different clip on the cars. However, I would like to verify before stating 100% it is not present.

Very interesting as the AIM clearly shows a clip on the transmission bolt.

Maybe one of those items the factory did not install? I never had one and just assumed it was held in place by that clip that holds the reverse light switch wiring as mentioned. I just noticed it in the AIM and when I searched here found no reference to such a clip.

When I googled by part number it came up with one on a 70 GTO Ram Air IV.

Let's see what further research reveals.
