    71 LS-5 air cleaner lid

I believe my air cleaner cover is original. It is showing some wear and a little rust. Please look at photos. Should I have re-chromed, buy replacement, or how to refinish or replace best? :DSCN8629.jpgDSCN8630.jpgDSCN8631.jpgDSCN8632.jpg

Ed I would leave it alone. It is only original once. If you really want to do something I would have it re-chromed. Bob

thanks for input. I am thinking it does not look too bad. Any ideas where to have re-chrome done? I heard of a place called Paul's in western PA.

I'd leave it alone. For an original, that one is really nice.

I would not touch that one. It will only be original once. If you're not pleased with the condition, buy a shiny new one and put a decal on that one. Keep this one safely if that's the course you take

A nice piece. The decal is white, wasn't there also one with the flags like this? http://www.ebay.com/itm/1970-Corvett...9ebd9b&vxp=mtr

                  Ruedi,
Air cleaner changed during 1970 model year (except for LT1). EBay has the open element 1970 (most of year). This thread is about the closed element from 1970 (L) to 1972 and beyond. This closed element Air Cleaner went on for quite some time, but my product knowledge goes away after 1972.

BTW: I would third the opinions of Patrick and Mike. Ed, If you want something really shiny, buy a repro (or another original and replate) and put a repro label on it. Then you will have a perfect example of the differences between original and repop. Put the original away for the next custodian of your car to admire.

Ruedi, " " others. That is way too nice if an original to do anything to except clean and store safely.

Only wish my 1972 was half as nice!

Keep the original for judging and buy yourself a repo for driving and showing.
