1965-1972 Chevrolet Historical Document Services - Help Wanted - Updated 2/26/14

    chevymuscledocs.jpg

National Corvette Restorers Society is pleased to announce that we can now provide certain information for model years 1965 through 1972 for Camaro, Chevelle and Nova through the efforts of the NCRS and permission granted by General Motors. We believe our fellow hobbyists and car clubs have desired this information since it became available for Corvettes several years ago.

The information consists of the dealer code, dealer name, dealer location and the production date the car was produced. The good news is this may allow you to find the original dealer where your Chevrolet Camaro, Chevelle or Nova was shipped and possibly open the door to finding more information about your Chevrolet.

A Camaro, Chevelle or Nova Shipping Data Report can be ordered only online. Membership in NCRS is not required. The fee will be $50 payable by credit card or PayPal. You will receive via USPS a letter with the information which includes the NCRS official seal. In limited cases the dealer code is not available or readable and in this case a full refund will be made.

This service will begin during the second quarter of 2014, at: www.chevymuscledocs.com

John, this is BIG news for non-Corvette owners. Is it okay to disseminate this information to the rest of the world? I'd like to post this on the Camaro Research Group web site for one (http://www.camaros.org/index.shtml).

            Ed,

That would be good for NCRS and its members.

I can recall this first month of Corvette Historic Documents blitz really had us humping. The Chevrolet Historic Documents could be ten fold for whomever the handlers are.

              Help Wanted

As you may know in about a month the Chevy Muscle Docs will be opening to supply Shipping Data Reports for 1965-1972 Camaro, Chevelle and Nova owners.

The Shipping Data Reports were an instant success for Corvette owners and we know there are a lot more Camaro, Chevelle and Nova owners than there are Corvette owners.

We are looking for someone who would be willing to be the administrator of the website chevymuscledocs.com. The site is almost completely built and that would not be your responsibility. The Shipping Data Reports will be handled by someone not yet designated. What we are looking for is someone to monitor the site and maybe help answer helpdesk tickets and help whoever is doing the Shipping Data Reports when there is trouble.

The duties would require knowledge of html and php as well as mysql database maintenance. This would be very light involvement in any of these areas normally but a basic understanding would be a big help.

Most of the effort would be in going into the raw database and searching for a mistyped record and making a correction without doing anything to break the database.

As far as html and php you would only be required to understand when errors occur, what the error messages might mean and maybe capturing the error for further investigation.

If interested or know of a NCRS member that might be, please send an email to ncrs@ncrs.org

                  No Corvairs?
                  Do these records not exist?
There are many of these vehicles in collectors hands.

                    Dave,
NCRS does not plan to handle the Corvairs at this time. We believe the work load with the Camaro/Nova/Chevelle will be enough in the near term.

Thank you for the response Mark.
A Corvair owner on the AACA discussion board was concerned about Corvair owners
being left out, so I thought that I would make the inquiry.

This is great that you are combining the records. I tried to get the Dealer information on my 1970 vette. You guys found the Zone and dealer code but could not find the dealer name and address. By chance I entered the Zone and Dealer code into the Chevelle web site and they had the dealer name and address. I checked again on your site and found you had retrieved the same info. Great job
