    I suspected that might have been another application for the CY, but I wasn't sure. Someone with experience once told me: 'If you like the LT1, try the Camaro LT1/M40.' I should have done that.

      There were actually a few other applications for the "CY"-coded transmission. For 1969, it's applications were quite limited (i.e. Corvette L-71, L-88, ZL-1 and L-78 in Chevelles, Camaros and Novas). For example, for 1973-74, it was supposed to be used for L-82 Corvettes.
