Steering column "collar" on a '64 convertible

What shade of "black" should the steering column "collar" (or spacer...) be painted.....? This is the item that fits around the steering column and into the "notch" in the center of the dash cluster..... Should it match the gloss level of the dash cluster and steering column or is it more flat to statin black.....? I've seen a variety of "shades", but am not sure what is correct.... Thanks....Garry Eastwood #38705

    Gary,
The black on the steering wheel hub and the turn signal shroud should be different shade/hue of black. Figure on semi gloss and satin. Definitely not flat black.

      Gene...
Thanks for the response.... however, should the turn signal shroud, steering wheel hub and the collar/spacer all be the same shade of black.....? My steering column, signal shroud and steering wheel hub are currently a semi-gloss/satin finish..... should the collar match those items....?

The black should have a least two different shades/hues of black. Generally the column tube matches the collar. The steering hub is more satin than the other pieces. The most noticeable shade/hue difference is between the hub and the turn signal shroud. With the hub being most satin. Hope that says it for you.
