    Because job number 22 came down the line immediately before 23,and 24 came immediately after. No relationship to options or VIN.

        no relation to vin at all. Numbers were repeated over and over so you could see other cars with a 23 on it.

            Number is often referred as the factory job number rotated between 1 and 500 and the repeated again. It was used to match up parts of the car with the body (like doors, decklid, hood and trunk). The number was probably also written on the factory build sheet so factory workers could ensure they included the ordered options specified on the build sheet on the built car...
