71 LT-1 under hood wiring question

I'm working on a 71 that was stolen many years ago, and has not run since. The hood, air cleaner, carb, intake, distributor, and valve covers were stolen. In order to do that quickly, they just clipped wires. Two of those clipped are cloth-braided white wires coming out of the main bundle near the wiper motor. One appears to have pink insulation under the braiding, while the other is beige or white or yellow. It's hard to tell on that one because there is very little sticking out of the bundle. Can anyone point me to where each of those goes? Anyone have those wires in a used harness they have replaced?
    thanks!

I remember reading instructions in the AIM for installing K66 that said to cut the pink wire and tape it back into the wire harness. Since I have never actually done this, I don't know if the pink wire you describe is the same as the one in those instructions.

There is a white/light yellow braided wire that goes to the distributor coil on all 1968-1972 Corvettes. I believe this is the resistance wire that takes the place of the ceramic resistor that is mounted on the firewall of earlier Corvettes. It reduces the 'run' voltage to the coil from the full 12 volts.

Mike I believe the yellow comes from starter to +coil and the pink is the ignition feed from switch, (resistor wire).

Here is a basic wire print for the 66 thru 71 TI system. The pink wire gauge tells you what it is for if 20 gauge then it is cut and tied back in to the harness it is for a standard ignition system. the others are listed here for there use. 66-71diagram.gif

I'm still puzzled. I bought a repro engine harness for a 71. It has a wire that is yellow braided that I think goes to the coil. Attached to that same terminal is a 20-gauge black wire. I can find no evidence of that black wire in my original harness, and don't find it in the AIM or chassis service manual wiring diagrams. Also, in the repro harness there is no evidence of the 20-gauge red wire (surrounded by braiding) that is in my original harness. That's the one i referred to as pink in my original post. (I think that's the one you were referring to, Paul.).
Paul, looking at the diagram you provided, what is it that's in the lower left that the two 12-gauge pink wires go to? Is that the junction block on the firewall?
thanks for any help anyone can provide. I really would like to put this issue to bed and move on! I'm apparently in the slow group on this one.

This is Lectric Limited's install instructions for the TI harness install. It is better then for me to write it out to you hope this helps.

the yellow wire is the "start" hot circuit, should be terminated and attached to the PINK male from the TI harness.

The white with other color is the + lead to the coil ( for old points installation), and should be cut and taped back to the harness.

The TI harness has a "thicker" white cloth wire that goes to the distributor.

the TI "Split harness" gets plugged into the ignition switch on the column. One of the pink pig tails goes through the grommet in the firewall (one with tach/oil etc).
One of the TI harness leads plugs into this (think it is a white one).

On the column you have to remove the pink wire from the plastic connector. Then plug the TI extension into the plastic connector then back into the IG switch. Then plug the wire you 1st removed into the extension wire.
You will need one of those tools to take the connector out of the plastic connector.

Sounds plicated but really easy and takes 5 minutes to do...

Thanks for the help, guys. The LL directions help bring it all together. The special adapter kit they sell will get me where I need to go. I hope!

I hope that helps you Mike. The AIMs that show K66 as an option have instructions for installing the TI harness. I don't recall the exact wording, but there is something about 'cut the pink wire and tape and fold back into the harness'. There is a lot more, but to be certain I would have to look it up. I think the place to look is the 1969 AIM, if you have one.
