    70 M20 Slip Yoke condition

What does anyone think of the slip yoke pictured below.

Looks pretty good other than the two grooves towards the end.

    Thanks,

    Bill

I would feel comfortable with it Bill. No groove where tail housing seal rides. Maybe a little emery cloth and go with it. Now would be a good time to swap out the rear tail housing seal on your tranny if needed.

      Hi Michael,

I am kicking myself for hesitating on an NOS slip yoke. This used yoke is another option. I also saw where they can stainless steel sleeve my original.

The bushing and seal have been replaced.

      Thanks, Bill

I found and used one very similar to yours. Emery clothed the shaft, cleaned and installed....no problemo. If the surface of the shaft is as good as it looks, clean it up and go with it.

I am not a fan of and do not recommend "sleeved" yokes. These are not like brake calipers. When the yoke shaft is machined down, strength is lost. That strength is not restored, at all, by the sleeve. These 63-70 style yokes are thin enough to begin with.

The used yoke in your photo looks fine to me. The 2 grooves should cause no problem. However, I would highly recommend installing a new bushing in the extension housing prior to installing this yoke.
