Speedometer rebuild and wiring harness replace

    Fellow members,

Two questions I'm seeking advice on for my 54 vette.

First, my speedometer finally went out and needs to be rebuilt. Anyone know of a reputable company/person that rebuilds these and what the typical cost is?

Second, the wiring harness on my car is original and is becoming frail. I am looking to replace it and found two kits, Lectric Limited and Zip's Corvette. Lectric seems to be the most complete of the two but is quiet a bit more money wise. Any recommendations on a complete wiring harness? Is it easy to do yourself or should I have a professional handle?

    Thanks in advance!

    Gabe

Take a look at: http://www.wiringharness.com/ I find them to be the closest to original.

Harry, do you have experience with their battery ground cable? How accurate is it for a '57? Thanks! Steve

M&H are one of the best reproducing wiring harnesses! They don't have errors in connecting wrong wires like the other company mentioned!

That's good to know. I was all set on going with Lectric just because I haven't heard much about the other guys.

I've used both vendors products, and I feel the M & H is the superior product. BTW, Zip Corvette sells M & H exclusively.

Gabe, I always take mine to Bill Harrison here in Jupiter Fl. If I was far away I would ship to him.

                    Bill is excellent.

I use Joe Ray, he posted in this thread, for my 63 speedo and tach. Excellent work

Corvette Specialities does a nice job on gauges.

                              Gabe:
I had D&M Restoration rebuild both my '57 and '61 speedos and they did an excellent job with quick turnaround. They advertise in the Driveline.
