Today I was looking at a reproduction window sticker I had made up several years ago and I question the ECL code for a 65 conv with U69 am/fm radio and L76 327/365hp, according to the ECL codes in Nolan Adams book page 301 it shows a code of AA for a Conv, with base engine,L75,L76 or L79 and on the reproduction window sticker I had made it has option 2U69DA or code ECL DA, in the book of Nolan Adams it shows DA as being Conv, with L78 and N14 am I missing something here or was it a miss printing of the incorrect code by the supplier of the window sticker.
ECL code for 65 conv L76 option U69 DA or AA ?

Re: ECL code for 65 conv L76 option U69 DA or AA ?
Jim -- the DA suffix on the '65 repro sticker must be a misprint. AA is always the basic configuration on ECL's. All other codes are a deviation from that, due to a different installation (parts, location, etc). You can also check model years '64, 66 and '67 in Noland's book to confirm the pattern.- Top

Re: ECL code for 65 conv L76 option U69 DA or AA ?
Wayne the other options for the car are 2ZO1AE for back up lights ,2G81FA for posi 370R, 2M20BA for 4spd, 2414AC for Blue Trim, and none of these options are AA code and what I have on the reproduction sticker match the two letter codes for those options all except the DA on the radio, I'm not sure what you mean by all basic configuration= AA ,also I should note my car is a AO smith and my trim tag has no ECL code on it that I can see. Jim -- here's a copy of an original '65 convertible sticker with L76 and many of the same options you have. I'm almost sure that the person who made the repro sticker thought (momentarily ?) that you had a coupe (radio 02U69AD). Smith body car should have no impact. What I meant by basic config. is best shown by the other AA ECL codes on this sticker (hard top, white wall tires, 365hp engine) were not affected [in combination] by any other option. Well, other than the hard top which would have been BA if ordered in place of the soft top.JR- Top

Re: ECL code for 65 conv L76 option U69 DA or AA ?
Yes, they were - having black trim (vinyl or leather) automatically categorized them as a base unit and they didn't get any ECL coding - only the "STD" on the trim tag. With any other trim color, they got the appropriate ECL based on their particular combination of body-related options.- Top
