Re: Father and son buiding cars
Keith,
You've had a fine upbringing. The time spent twisting wrenches with your Pops will be some of your most valuable memories in life. Based on some of your posts here and on the CF, I can tell you picked up some important lessons along the way. Thanks for sharing the pics. They are a reminder of how quickly time slips past us all.

Re: Father and son buiding cars
Great pics, Keith. It's every man's dream (mostly) to restore a car with his son. There's a 68 Camaro parked beside of my house that was bought 15 years ago for that very purpose. My son found girls and a career before we got very far. However, he lives a few blocks away and also has a shop, so there's still hope for me.

Re: Father and son buiding cars
I did the same with my son. Started him out at 5 sitting on my lap in a parking lot letting him steer the 69. Taught him to drive stick in the 69 at 15 and started him wrenching a short time later. Gave him a 75 L82 coupe on his HS graduation night to build up and now he is 28 and full all out throw back drag racer. It was a good experience for both and still is. He blows up the car, takes the parts out, and we rebuild them. The latest job replacing both inner/outer sheared solid spicers on a 3.5" 1/2 shaft. This part I can do without but he can take the car apart blind folded now. Good luck to you and your Dad, be safe and get the car finished. Gary- Top

Re: Father and son buiding cars
Guys, please direct some of these photos and stories to our own RESTORER. I think this would make a great article or maybe a small feature in every edition. This is truly what our hobby should be about. Chip.- Top

Re: Father and son buiding cars
My son Nick and I share the hobbynick 2.jpgnick3.jpgnick.jpgThe first shot is a new 87 325IS I bought new, saved it, and gave him on his 16th birthday.....he has hot rodded, dropped a M3 motor in it, converted OBD1 to OBD II, Air bagged, and more....the 64 was being painted with my kids checking it out, the last shot is Nick helping me seat the front spring in the tower to get rid of the lean...which really worked.....he is a great mechanic, companion, and friend...my daughter Jordan loves cars as well, she doesn't wrench on them...yet!Dino Lanno- Top
