I am getting a car ready for judging. I would like to find out what the correct bolts where used on the 1967 L-79 350HP aluminum manifold. Also what the finish on the bolts were and where they painted? And where I may find a set. They repo's I know of do not seem to be right. Thats Jack

Jack, the head-markings on the 9/16' black phosphate hex-head bolts can be "TR", "A", "M", and "FP". These are the most common I have seen. Others do exist. The heads also have three lines radiating from the center (grade 5). The head of the bolts are painted aluminum during the intake painting process.- Top

To clarify, the painting process was a "touch-up" operation to paint the raw iron portion of the cylinder head between the aluminum valve cover and the edge of the intake manifold (shielded by a mask during the orange painting operation) dull aluminum, and overspray from that usually covered the edge of the manifold and part or all of the black phosphate intake manifold bolts. The manifold itself wasn't painted.- Top
