Repairing paint cracks without respraying??

'66 L79 'Vert, Laguna Blue BC/CC paint +/- 1 year old, very high quality appearance respray, but hairline cracks aft of door handles both sides. Have researched forum, learned much but need to ask (suspect it will be short answer: no)--
can paint- deep-only cracks be repared in any way without respraying (with heat and/ or buffing by a professional)? I've owned the car about 6 months/driven it 600 miles or so, and the cracks haven't "progressed" any. The cracks aren't wide enough to see through to the glass underneath. Related question-- Should I have any new- purchased midyear be checked and re-shimmed (frame-to-body) or any other preventative manuever to prevent developing cracks (I drive all my old cars).

When paint cracks on a vette, it's usually because the glass under the paint is cracked. Having BC/CC is your friend with metalic paint for the repair.
I had the same problem when my 67 was on the body dollie. I rolled the hard dollie wheels over some rough ground every week to do a shop clean up and got cracks at each headlite.
It wasn't possible to do the repair from behind the cracked glass so I groind & v,ed the crack and used JB WELD. Yes I found JB to be the strongest repair for that kind of crack.
If you sand the area around the crack and paint prep it you can cover the repair with BC and the beauty is that the CC will cover the metalic and after buffing you won't see a thing.
But as you said, fix the cause first.
