Enginge pad cleaning - Looking for a recent thread

I remember seeing a thread where someone started with a pretty rusty pad and ended up with really clean and clear broach marks. I've searched and searched but can't seem to find it. I seem to recall one of the products he used was one of the well know metal polishes, e.g. Simichrome, Flitz or something like that.

Anyone else recall the thread. I need to work on my engine pad and get the rust off and stabilize it.

    Thanks,

    Don

    Don,

Someone at the recent chapter meeting in Fredericksburg highly recommended Meguiars wheel cleaner for his engine pad. I checked the Meguiars product line and there are at least three different Meguiar's wheel cleaners and I don't know which one was specifically recommended. He was clear about applying it with a toothbrush, however.

Yes, now that you mention it that is also where I heard it. I'm a MAC member and was at the meeting. Wasn't a thread here after all.

      Thanks,

Naval jelly and a soft bristle brush. No wire brushes.
