53 truck engine

I have a perfect running 53 truck engine is any part of this the same as a corvette? Thanks

Well lets see how close I can get to an answer for you...others may give more in-depth details but my understanding is the truck engine block was used as the basis for the Corvette with the exception of a different cam and impossible head. Of course there are also the hard to find oil pan, intake manifold, valve cover, distributor with tach drive, and water pump that were unique to the first Corvettes.

If the block is a 911 block - it is the same at the Vette - but the block is stamped differently
The head for the 241 Head for the 54 and 066 head were for the Vette only
Some of the small bolt ons can be swapped over - lifter cover, etc.....
Most of the 53, 54, 55 235 Vette engine parts are Vette only.......

The Corvette cam is the same as the truck cam. Passenger car cam differs though.

Thanks Troy for the correction on the camshaft! Was not 100% sure on that fact. John
