    1965 Seat belt removal

Hello to all; I would like to send out my (1965) blue seat belts and driver's side retractor cup to 'Snnake Oyll' for restoration. Could someone please confirm how to remove all parts concerned from chassis ?
Also; I would like to replace the rocker panel moldings on both sides of the car. Can I replace the rocker panels without having to remove and/or replace the rocker panel 'support strip' which is underneath? I'm told that the support strip is "tricky" to get on and off since it's a tight fit........... Thank you.

    David,

The seat belts are pretty straightforward to remove. I think it's all done inside the cabin, fairly obvious once you get started.

DavidRemove yours seats to gain better access to bolts that retain the belts. One bolt at the front of each seat track. (the rear of the seat is retained by a bracket and does not need to be removed. You could just slide the seat all the way forward but taking them out helps, especially with the inboard belt Yes to your question. The rocker molding is removed before you can access the retainer. You will want to remove it for refurbishment and cleaning....it's retained by numerous small screws and make note how tight it is attached since the rocker molding needs to slide behind it.....there's usually dirt behind the retainer that could make re-installation of the molding more difficult.

        John,

I did not remove my seats to replace my seat belts. I don't remember it being a particularly difficult job. But to each his own...
