Hay Dr. Olds; make some room up in Boot Hill; may be more coming!

    Take it FWIW:

Hearing throughout the "Web" that this new GM CEO (Mary Barra) is a no nonsense kinda gal. She will
take no excuse to any division that can't "hold their own". She is open to sending GMC and Buick to
"Boot Hill" to join the other "not for profit divisions". Chevrolet who is now 80% of GM and Cadilac will
be the only ones left. Lean and Mean as they say. I for one say "Bring it on".JMHO Comments? Larry

P.S. Ford learned long time ago to get rid of the losers.

I can see getting rid of GMC but I think there is still a market for Buick. I think they will keep Dads Buick.

Never have understood the reason for GMC for the last 50 years. Bought a new pickup in '85 and looked at them all. GMC was hardly different from Chevrolet (except for price). Now if they still made a 302...

I agree with all that too. The days of Alfred P. Sloan and his market segmentation strategy in a rapidly expanding market where you are dominant are long gone. Now close duplicates like GMC trucks, and even Buick just cannibalize sales from Chevy and Caddy, IMO.

Buick has a great product. If you ever get a chance test drive a Buick Regal with the four cylinder turbo charged engine and a six-speed manual transmission. The same driveline is offered in the Cadillac ATS (2013 car of the year). GM got the driveline combo from Saab when GM owned Saab. Plus Buick sales overseas are decent.

No mystery to Buick- I agree that Buick has great products but its packaged in a tired uninspired design which is a boat anchor on sales. This drag effect in the US market cannot be offset by the shinning sales figures in China. Buick styling team needs a solid kick in the pants similar to the transformation that occurred at Cadillac with Lutz.

The brand is vanilla and boring, which is a shame, I have a 65 Riviera and love that car! (except when I had to redo all 5 u-joints in the drive shaft last year)

I suppose it's all relevant; you say "decent" I say "pathetic". GM thoughout the years has been very "coy" on profit & loss per division. Never seen a statement
publised for the public and bond holders. (I was one once) If they(Buick) can hold their own; so be it but I don't want 1 cent of Chevrolet $$ going to them. Larry

Let's hope the decisions of the first female CEO of a major auto maker bode well for the future of the Corvette, the best sports car on god's green earth.
