The tires that are on my car are at least 20 years old that I know of and I am shopping around for a new set. The old tires can't even be balanced because they have out of round spots throughout the circumference. They are making me a bit nervous.
I have looked at posts that have discussed speed rating but not necessarily addressing the inclusion of a whitewall. I don't believe I need a tire rated for 130+ MPH unless it might be significantly better from a construction and longevity standpoint. I do some occasional freeway driving but mostly drive in a rural area. What I think I need is a 205/75 R15 with about a 3/4" or a little less whitewall. I know about Diamond Backs but they seem to be a bit pricey. I have come across Hankooks and Uniroyal Tiger Paws but know nothing about them. Has anyone had any experience with these or have a recommendation? I don't want price to necessarily influence what I ultimately choose to run with, but if I don't need to spend $4-500 for a tire that won't perform, look or pass muster if the car were judged any better than a less expensive tire, then I would opt for the lower cost.
Thanks for any suggestions.
