    69 Stingray fender script

Does anyone have a good closeup photo of the dot on the " i " in stingray on an original fender badge?

What are the lengths of the attaching stud?

Can not tell you the length of the studs but from memory originals had 4 studs and later service and productions had 3 shorter studs. Here are a few photos.DSC08247.JPG$_12.JPGIMGP1295.jpg

I don't have a photo but originals do not have a "groove" under the dot on the "I".

Here you go Gary. And original studs are approx 5/16" long while repops are shorter.

I wonder if there is 5/16 sticking out when installed on car. First set of repros I had were 5/16 in total length. New ones I found are longer, so approx 5/16 will stock out through the fiberglass.

It's really difficult to get a ruler in there and see what it is, but I believe it's 5/16" total length. I don't have a loose emblem to check. Maybe someone else does?

The original studs were much longer than 5/16".

Quite some time ago I posted several photos of an NOS original emblem (from the 1969 period). They should be somewhere in the archives.

Joe, the TIM&JG states "Original script attaches with adhesive and four long-positioning studs (ca. 5/16 inch) without nuts". I stood on my head, jammed my camera in there and put the ruler to mine and you're right, it's longer than 5/16". Difficult to measure exactly, but definitely longer than 5/16"!

That's the length minus the thickness of the fiberglass. The bare stud is longer.

How were these attached at the factory? The new ones all have an adhesive backing that you just peel and stick on the car. Should I remove the adhesive backing and use some other type of product?

Nope. According to the TIM&JG, that's how they were applied at the factory. No nuts, just the adhesive backing. However, the AIM clearly shows on UPC 11/13, Sheet A10, that a P/N 9419753 nut was used, but there's nothing in the "Mandatory Installation Sequence" regarding this. No nuts on any of my studs.

                            I measured the stud (11/16") from a 1970 emblem.

Hee's something interesting. I took a look at the driver side and found the stud to be MUCH shorter than the passenger side I had posted pictures of before. I'm wondering if my passenger side is a repop. There's no way I can get a ruler in the driver side, but you can clearly see by the picture (attached) that it's not the same as the passenger side.
