Is this fan blade part number 3789562?

The fan blade in the pictures seems to be correct as part number 3789562 from a diagram and description in Nolan Adams book. The diagram and description is on page 118 of his book. His book also show this to be correct for 1963 with A/C and then used again in 66/67 A/C cars. Both the diagram and his text says the fan had 4 rivets.

However, the 1966 TIM&JG says the part number 3789562 had 5 rivets.

Also, the blades that LIC and Paragon sell for the A/C cars have 5 rivets.

Is this blade a correct 3789562?

    Thanks,

    Don Harris

Don, the 67 and 68 Camaro with A/C or K02 (Fan, temperature controlled) used the same fan (3789562), and it's a 4 rivet fan. More info on this fan can be found HERE.

      Don,

Your fan (18" dia., 3.00" bolt circle) appears to be GM # 3789562 but I believe that it is not correct for a 1963 or 1964 since it has flat rivet heads. The change from flat to domed rivet heads took place in 1964 or 1965 for Hayes-Albion fans (stamped "H"). Over the years I have had several fans exactly like your fan but I have never seen one with domed rivets.
The 3789562 Hayes-Albion fan and the 3863137 Schwitzer fan are both correct for 1966-1967 Corvettes 327 w/AC as well as passenger cars.

The 18" dia. Hayes-Albion fan with 5 domed rivets/blade is GM # 3749576 and was used on 1958-1963 PASS. w/AC, 1961 PASS. (348) , and 1961-1963 PASS. (327,409) as per my vintage Chevrolet parts catalogs. I have a few 3749576 fans still in my collection.

GM # 3749576 was replaced with GM # 3789562 in July 1964 which was then replaced with GM # 3931002 in May 1972 as per Chevrolet Parts History for over-the counter parts.

      The 17 1/8" dia. fan (GM # 3770529 made by Hayes-Albion) has 5 rivets/blade (domed on 1960-1964, flat on 1966-1967).

Dave, can you post examples of the domed and flat rivets? I'm assuming the one's I've attached (front and back side shots) are the "flat"? (The two pictures below are from a 68 Camaro L78/Z28 fan #3871276, but I also checked my 3789562 fan and it's the same.)

          Enclosed are 2 photos of a NOS a 3749576 18" 5-blade fan (58-63 Chevrolet) w/5 domed rivets per blade.
