Master Cylinder an Brake booster 1989

Need some recommendation on replacing Master Cylinder an Brake booster on my 89. Should I use reman or try and find NOS if that is even a option with these brake parts?

Your original master cylinder was GM #14104889. It was discontinued in July, 1989 and replaced by GM #10097700. The latter was discontinued in September, 1992 and replaced by GM #10157996, aka Delco #174-820. The 10157996 was recently discontinued without supercession but there should still be some around. As a matter of fact, there's one on eBay right now. The price at $395 is right, too, as this part carried a GM list price of $793.93 when it was last available. I don't know how the 14104889 and 10157996 differ but I expect it's minimal.

    Here's the eBay link:http://www.ebay.com/itm/NOS-GM-DELCO...d3e4d1&vxp=mtr

The brake booster was originally GM #10097670 and it's still available under this part number. Current GM list is $650.08

Lyndon I replaced the power brake booster on my 1985 Corvette and I bought it at AUTOZONE locally. Do not have access to my maintenance record book right now, but the new product price was a good amount lower than from the priced replacement booster at the Chevy dealer. I was surprised that the AUTOZONE purchased brake booster part was from the same manufacturer of the booster that came on my 1985 from the factory. It was a exact replacement. It was a good deal for me.
Rebuild kits may be available for master cylinders.

Yes, PBR, the Australian brake manufacturer, was the OEM supplier to GM for many C4 brake systems. PBR does sell brake parts into the aftermarket and many of the ones I've seen at least appear like the OEM part. There may be some difference, though, that cannot be seen.

As a matter of fact, Delco offered/offers both an OEM and "Delco Professional" series (their top level aftermarket) PBR-manufactured master cylinders for most C4's. For any given model year these appear identical. However, there's about a 150 buck difference in price so I assume there is a difference.

          Lyndon,

I don't know the issue on your booster but on the master cylinder on my 89 I rebuilt it. Very easy kit was available from NAPA as I recall.
That way you save the cap with the date code.

This will work very well as long as the master cylinder bore is perfect.

Thanks guys I think will get the booster from autozone as it looks like they have a OEM for 139 dollars. Will get the master cylinder from advance auto as they have a new one for around 170.
