Re: 68 72 Wiper door Assembly
Anthony,
i just went through this and it's a real pain. I was able to finally drill mine out except for one and frankly I gave up. I'm right down the road from Willcox Corvette so I took it there. Ernie tried many times and eventually welded a washer to the little bit of broken bolt and then welded a nut on the washer and low and behold the bolt worked loose and the bolt came out. Trouble is the bolts thread in at a special angle so all the geometry works smoothly. They don't have to be perfect but they have to be fairly close and this is tough when drilling out the hardened bolt and trying to retap the threads at the perfect angle.
After I went through all this consternation I noticed an ad in Corvette Central. They offer a service that drills out the broken bolts and redrills the holes in a jig for perfect alignmentand then uses a steel insert (probably helicoil) and your problem is over forever. This service is very reasonable and if it were me I would without question go that route if I had to do another one.
Hope this helps,
