BC/CC Urethane paint = no deduction??

'66 L79 Vert #1241-- I received NO deduction for my paint (recent BC/CC urethane). The judge said he knew it wasn't lacquer paint, but "they did a good job of making it look like lacquer". The letter of the rule says that if paint isn't a factory applied material, there should be a deduction. Would another judge deduct? Has Judging evolved to the point that non-lacquer paint isn't a deduction anymore (many states, mine included,have banned lacquer spraying for environmental concerns)

You did good.
Actually, the letter of the rule says that if the paint DOES NOT APPEAR LIKE factory applied paint, in color, metallic, and finish, there should be a deduction. The paint experts say you can paint your car with crayons or lipstick, enamel, urethane, lacquer or whatever, they don't care. IF the color, metallic and finish all look like it was done at the factory, you are good with no deducts. So, yes, you could well receive deducts from different judges, in different lighting, indoors or out, at a different meet.
