Trying to help a friend whose grandfather has a '55 Corvette that says it was a racecar. Supposedly 1 of 20 built that had no oil filter. Does anyone have any information? thanks, Mike

Re: 1955 Corvette
For passenger cars an optional, external oil filter could be mounted on a bracket that attached between the intake manifold and the thermostat housing. It was too tall to be used on Corvettes.

Re: 1955 Corvette
could the car have been a 3-speed? i could see someone with a 1955, 3-speed saying that they have a one of approximately 20 car. a vin# would best identify the car, but any information, including color could help to learn a little more on the car.- Top

Re: 1955 Corvette
the grandfather was then mentioning that it was rare because of it being a 3-speed. warren schindler(ncrs#11327) had mentioned that the last time he seen the car it was brushed painted black originally from new orleans, then mississippi. mention of #683 is listed in the 2/1990, corvette auto trader, page 34. i have a location of ms and a price of $100,000 which at that time seems extremely high. i do not see any current registration on #683. what is the current shape and color of the car?- Top

Re: 1955 Corvette
evidently the car was restored before 1990. send a private message to warren schindler and ask him if he has more info.- Top
