    1963 power brake booster identification

I found on my '63 power brake booster a number 2574 on a tab of the power brake booster. I've seen this number before in Ebay adds claiming this is the "real deal" of an original '63 power brake booster. However the 1963-1964 NCRS Technical Manual Information Manual and Judging Guide says on page 122 that the numbers 2025 or 2110 (standard or Z06) should be on the tab. I do have an original 1963 power master cylinder attached to this booster. Which number is correct for a 1963 power brake booster ? Thanks Ruud

2574 is correct. You are looking @ an older JG, as the 6th ed on page 125 correctly states the # is 2574

Tim, thanks, that is the answer I was hoping for. I'll buy the latest JG now. Regards Ruud

Ruud, I just looked the the booster you put up for sale. I think it was assembled upside down.

Ed, look at where the top firewall mounting bracket is located.

Ed, Harry, you are both absulutely right. I noticed it when it came of the (wrecked) split. Maybe that was what wrecked it in the first place. I do not know if it would be operational this way, but I guess it would. I think that somehow the 2 halves of the booster where not correctly fitted. The MC and the half towards the firewall seem to be the way they should. The front half of the booster is upside down, with the vaccuumlinkage leftdown instead of rightupp. I have actually never seen anything like this and cannot amagin that a serious rebuilder woul;d mak such a mistake. I was just looking at the vacuum hose connection its facing down. the mount braces do appear wrong.

Ed, ss Harry previously mentioned the MC and PB are up for sale and have to be rebuild both. If they do not sell I'll send the booster up to BoosterDewey in Orgegon and have it rebuild and replated. Then I 'll install it on my '63 roadster. One way or the other it will have to be put back together properly, at least if you want to drive it (safely). Ruud
