Re: C3 Spare Tire Tub Resto
I am unsure what the C3 rivets looked like but here is a reproduction of the C2 rivets that I made.
Worked excellent and the shipping was inexpensive and fast. :")

Re: C3 Spare Tire Tub Resto
Well here's my handiwork. Tub came out great, strap cleanup well but rivet work is average at best. I picked up one of those rivet bits for the impact gun but I found it a challenge to keep it on the rivet without it wandering...thus the second photo shows a rivet beat the hell.

Re: C3 Spare Tire Tub Resto
Great job, I have seen work by the Pros, that did not look that good. Have someone buck the buck the backside of your rivet and then hammer the rivet head down, Also your rivet maybe a little too long when started, it is aluminum, don't be afraid to drill it out, cut it a little shorter and repeat.- Top

I agree with William, the rivets may be too long. May I suggest filingone down and try it on some scrap to see how it works.- Top

Re: C3 Spare Tire Tub Resto
Also, reduce the pressure to the rivet gun to where it is just enough to set the rivet. If it is set too high, the bit will not stay on the rivet.

Re: C3 Spare Tire Tub Resto
It was some time ago but I probably was using 90 pounds of pressure...what should I reduce the pressure to?Tom Russo

Re: C3 Spare Tire Tub Resto
It's also been a few years since I did this so I really can't tell you what the pressure was. I know that I turned it down to where the gun just begins to operate and then trial and error. I think 90 lbs is still quite high- I'm thinking more like 45(?).
