Dated Spark plug wires for my july 24 69

I am looking for a set of new dated spark plug wires for my july 24 69 427/390.

I called lectric limited, and their wire sets all have the same date on each wire. They have 3Q68, 1Q69 or 3Q69, you must choose. They will not sell a set with mixed wire dates and they do not make a 4Q68 or a 2Q69 dated plug wire.

Does anyone else make plug wires that would be able to sell a set with the proper range of dates? My July 24 69 should probably have 4Q68, 1Q69 and 2Q69 dated wires. If I cant find anothercompany that will mix wire dates, should I go with 1Q69 or 3Q69 for my application?

Why would you want a wire set with mixed dates?

Anyway, you could use either a 1st quarter, 1969 or a 3rd quarter, 1969 and be OK.

The original wires came with mixed dates. I have seen a few examples now.

Having a mixed set of wires wouldn't help with points chasing. The repro wires don't really fool anybody in the first place. I'd go with 1Q69, 3Q69 is cutting it a bit close.

Remember also that the braiding will cover almost all the writing on the wires.

If you really want mixed dates buy two sets of different dates and mix them yourself. AFAIK no one makes wires with even numbered quarters in the dates. In fact I believe EL is the only game in town and thus they are not likely to make even numbered dates any ime soon.

With a lot of patience you can order unbraided wires from EL and transfer your original braid to the new wires. That will look a whole lot better.

Mike has it right though in that the replacement wires will fool no one.

Many (read that as "almost all") folks have had trouble with reproduction dated sparkplug wires over the last 5-10 years. Prior to that, Delco was still in existence and apparently making the wires. At that time the quality was good. Nowadays, who knows??

I would make certain that they test out okay with an ohm meter before installing in the car. And then be very careful with them after that.

Checkout K&B Products in the NCRS Driveline. Not certain if their wires are dated.

              Deduction wise...what would be better?

Dated Repro wires or Service Replacement GM wires? The wires on my car are GM from the early 80s. Working perfectly with no issues for 3 years now. I lost 2 originality points at the regional 2 years ago as NT service.

The GM SERVICE wires are as close as you're ever going to get to original PRODUCTION wires in both configuration and functionality. Even those have been discontinued for about 10 years now and, if you ever need them, will be expensive if you find an NOS set.

1Q or 2Q of '69 would work for a July car, but just as likely sets would not be mixed if the assembly plants used reasonable inventory management. Plug wires were installed @ St Louis, but the BB sets for Corvette had to go thru a separate Operation at Packard electric after the leads were assembled to apply the braid and the associated terminals. so there was some delay, and they were shipped as individual part numbers in fairly large containers to St Louis, so depending on the inventory at St Louis mixed sets would be possible, but the quarter by quarter change in the printing leaves a pretty fair chance that any given car would have a matched set.

2 points for a set of wires that work perfectly with no issues for 3years ? I'd take the 2 points and keep the wires.
