This is a follow up posting to a previous thread I had for fiberglass tunnel repairs - 1954 Tunnel Repair for Floor Shifter.
I have a good sized cut out on the firewall of my 1954 which I need to patch in and thought I would post this question for some advice on how to approach this.

This is a photo of what the firewall should look like...

My plan was to create a mold that would replicate the 90 degree bend (perhaps using a 2x4) and with that create 2 panels, and then would mate the 2 lips together adding rivets then this assembly would be cut and fit into the firewall.
Would this seem to be an effective approach? If the repair were limited to an area above or below the joint it would not be as bad but of course the hole is in both panel.
Any advice or direction appreciated.
