    Florida storage for my 65'

    Hello to all;

    I thinking about taking one of my C2's from Montreal, down to my place in Highland Beach Florida for good. The car would spend 12 months in a covered garage, under a flannel car cover. I would be driving the car once a month, at most. My concern is the fact that my building garage is not air conditioned & open on the sides to heat, salt air and extreme humidity during the summer. Do members in South Florida have problems (humidity, salt etc) with these conditions? Thanks in advance.

    Dave, I live in Palm Beach County and heat and humidity are killers. I just air conditioned my garage. Mold, mildew, dampness, etc are huge concerns. I put a mini split system in my homes garage 2 years ago and the difference is amazing...then I just did the same thing to my other garage. You are going to have problems with your car from the hot asphalt your tires are staying on to the mold inside your car. Try and find garage storage if you can. Some of those high rise condos in Highland Beach rent one car detached garages. Theft is the obvious other consideration....if I can be of absolutely any assistance please et me know....fellow Armo.... Ara

        FWIW............ I live way North of Palm Beach, but we have the heat/humidity problems in my area of Florida too...... Here's a suggestion.

        I have a friend here who owns one of those mini-storage businesses. Some of the units are climate controlled. He tells me that he has had a number of cars stored within his units over the years.

        It might be worth a few phone calls to check availablility and prices at mini-storage businesses in your area. Those mini-storage businesses are secured too. Most require a swipe card or numerical code input to gain access to the facility.

          Like Chuck said. I had three stored in a climate controlled storage facility here in Texas for a couple of months. Not a long time but they were climate controlled. Summer temp of the AC was 78. The facility had a chain linked fence around the perimeter with razor wire on top and a key pad at the gate. The individual storage units had latches with holes for pad locks---I used the circular type. Price per month was $88.00. The facility also had an onsite manager with his house about 150' away facing the doors of my units. Steve

              What do you do to keep the humidity out of the air bag?

                David, I can tell you from experience that the swamp weather, climate is very hard on the restored fuel injections. They age quickly. The aluminum castings don't like the humidiy and either does the cad plating. Salt water air is not good for our antiques. John

                  I had a friend who stored his '90 ZR! in a security controlled storage bay while he was traveling for the guvmint. Humidity is not a consideration here in the desert. However theft is, and I imagine this is the same everywhere. After one of his trips he went to check on his car, and found the lock has been changed. The security people knew nothing! When they cut the lock off we found the car was still there, and moved it to my shop, which has 24 hour security, me and ADT.
