    66 Sill Plate questions

I searched and found some comments about the 67 reproduction sill plates, but nothing on the 66 sill plates. How do the reproductions fair in judging? I will look for NOS, but if I can't find any, or any for a reasonable price I will get the Trim Parts reproductions if they judge OK, i.e. don't loose the whole 8 points the sills are worth.

    Thanks,

    Don

Don, you have to make sure the sill plates have twelve ribs . I think some repro's do not have the correct amount of ribs.

      Re: 66 Sill Plate questions

The nomenclature can be confusing. When you mentioned 12 ribs, I went to the 66 TIM&JG and it does say 12 ribs. I was looking at the current reproductions (which I believe are Trim Parts) and found the following:

Trim Parts web site says "Trim Parts manufactures these sill plates to original GM specifications with the correct 13 grooves that were originally manufactured on each plate! Sold as pairs. Original GM part # 3797499"

Long Island Corvette web site says "64 Late to 66 Door Sills, 6 hole (pr) (correct 13 grooves) early late 64 changeover is around april - 4 hole vs 6 hole"

So the TIM&JG is counting ribs and the resellers are counting grooves.
