Re: Caution Regarding Quanta Belts
Mike,
I would suggest to quanta to provide the tape length of the belt around the outside. That would at minimum give a customer an idea if the belt is even in the right ball park.
I have found in the past that those repro belts are not any good at all on something that is driven. I've had them roll over in the pulleys. They then make a terrible squeal. I guess they are for looking at only.- Top

Re: Caution Regarding Quanta Belts
Mike:
I have also had problems with Quanta belts not fitting correctly the first time............being either too short or too long. It was trial and error to get the correct fit, and then the embossed part numbers were different.
However, once fitted, the belts have performed well for me.
Is it possible that by 1969 GM was transitioning to the "cut type" belts. I remember them changing somewhere around this time. There could even be a few "in-between" years where both types were used/specified. I dunno??
To elaborate on Gene's comment, I have seen info where Quanta belts were listed by part number, application, and length. But this was a few years ago. I made a paper copy for my files. But even then, I think there may (will) still be some fitment issues.

Re: Caution Regarding Quanta Belts
There has been a problem since 1969 with getting the correct belts for a 1969 Corvette, the parts books were incorrect, Gates books are incorrect, Dayco is incorrect. Apparently there are some variations between cars equipped with the same options. When we had the parts business we had a very difficult time in getting the correct belts, even for a driver.Dick Whittington- Top
