54 wire harness installation proceedure?

Im trying to figure out which way to feed the harness thru the 1 inch hole in the firewall. I started to feed the insrument wires thru from the engine side buy doent seem to work. The thickness of the harness and light bulbs seems too much. Also doesnt seem the column connectors will go thru with the thickness. They must of had a proceedure at the factory. Is it better to feed the engine side of the harness from inside the car because doesnt seem the the point where it takes off to the generator, that junction, will fit thru that hole without really compressing it. How did you folks feed it? Thanks as always.

Guy, on 56-57 you feed the wires from under the dash and into the engine compartment. Not sure on your 6V 54 - generator is on the right side. But I think this is still correct and you can get the wires through if you try hard enough. Feeding from the engine you wont get the light bulbs and connectors through, as you say.

go from the passenger compartment thru to the engine bay......
you can open the hole slightly if need be...
It will fit -
Also if you have some sun - set the harness in the sun so it is warm and flexible.....

Excellent! Thanks again, alot going on now all at once pulling it together. I will have more questions soon im sure and maybe others will benifit from this when they get to this point.
