T Top Bags

My bags are looking a little worn, so I was just looking for some opinions.
On one bag the date is clearly visible and precedes my Jul 6 trim tag. The stamp on the other bag is unreadable, but has a running "12 AT 71" in the material.
There are also some tears and stains. Is it time to look for a better set for judging?

The 1971 date is from the manufacturer of the material. The red ink stamp is the assembly date of the bag. Even though the lining may not be the same, they should get credit due to the dates. I would stick with the originals unless you find ones in better condition. I have seen very few that do not have water spots. What you will lose in condition will be very insignificant; the two bags and the hold-down strap are only worth 5 pts. originality and 3 for condition.

Be very careful even trying to clean the inside of those bags. That red ink will disappear faster than you could imagine. Don't ask me how I know that.

I'm not sure I'm going to touch them at all, especially based on what you said!
Btw, I still remember Jim Buck giving me your contact info when I bought my Lt-1 in 1984, just in case I had any questions. Boy, that was a long time ago!
