    Repairing a scratched side window

Has anyone had any luck repairing scratches on glass? Eastwood has a buffing product that looks promising. Dutch

I have done it and posted about it several times in the distant past. All I will say at this time is it can be done (Don't believe the fingernail BS either) but it takes a lot of time and patience.

Edit add: I did not use the Eastwood kit because I did the work before Eastwood offered the kit. The equipment I used was essentially what Eastwood offers.

FWIW, the original piece of driver's side vent window glass in my 63 was damaged back in the late 60's/early 70's. In an attempt to steal the car, the thief pushed in the vent window and broke the rod where it connects at the regulator. Had it fixed, but the bonehead at the shop brazed the rod back on.... and the heat bubbled the glass at the base. I put up with it for years.

I found a piece of glass on EBAY with the same date and bought it. It had a small scratch. I took it to a local glass shop, where I had it polished for ~$25.00. I then simply swapped out the vent glass on the car.

It's pretty easy to get the glass out of the vent frame if you're careful. NOT so easy to remove a side glass.
