    Calling all 1994"s

We have been conducting a survey to determine the cut off date of the change over from white script to orange script on the 1994 power steering cap.

The 94-96 Judging manual calls for an orange script for the 1994 year.

The last 1994 power steering cap we could find that had the white script was VIN 6944 and the first orange script we could find was 1994 VIN 12076.

We are looking for 1994's that fall in the gap between the ending of the white script and the beginning of the orange script. As far as we can determine the wording on both caps is the same.

If someone knows why this color change took place we would be happy to hear from you.

If you do not want to post you VIN number on this board, please PM me or send me an email at fulassoc@comcast.net.

A build date would also be appreciated. All the ZR1's we found, regardless of year (93, 94 and 95) had the white script on the power steering cap.

Again as usual, any information that I receive will be shared with all the members of this board.

    Thanks in advance.

The LT5 engine used a different power steering reservoir cap than LT1. The 1990-95 LT5 cap was GM #26002554. The 1992-94 LT1 cap was GM #26022478.

Keith, thanks for your time and interest. We now have narrowed the change over from November 93 to early February 1994.

Thanks to folks like you, we will get it close enough for inclusion in the 94-96 Judging Manual.

Pat Just a question. Have you examined both cap examples side by side. Perhaps there is a tiny difference in the actual cap. That would indicate a possible supplier change. The different supplier might have used a different color script. Just a thought. Maybe there is a little mark on the under side of the caps that would indicate a difference. Just a thought. I don't have any of these caps in my drawer, but i see lots of C4's in the shop, so I will note what I see for you.
