1957 2X4 Choke Tube to Exhaust Manifold

1957 2X4 Engine: Is the exhaust manifold end of the choke tube cut perpendicular, at an angle, or begins perpendicular then into an upward angle?

    Steven:
When I bought my '57 2X4 the rear carb did not have a choke attached. I was able to get one and then ordered the choke tube. It was cut perpendicular and works fine. I don't know what the original tubes were like.

Art, I have seen the repro's cut perpendicular. I bought my '57 in '64 and the tube has a perpendicular cut that goes into an upward angle. The previous owner said he never changed it and thought it was original. I saw another purported original years ago cut like mine with a lot of patina. If originally cut like mine I wonder why? What was the purpose? Thanks, Steve
