injection pipes - what are correct crimps/tapered

Need some help on A.I.R. K-19 - what is correct on 67 injection tubes - crimped or tapered main manifold of the tube? Was there a difference on small block vs big block? Was there a change from crimped to tapered or was it different manufacturers? When did neck change to 90 degree bend? sometime in 66 or beginning of 67? I've got a few pictures attached. I would love to get feed back from those that have very original cars that con substantiate originality

thanks much for all your help!

I know there are not that many K-19's with original parts out there but I thought I would get some comments from some very knowledgeable members out there?

Dick - we think that crimped or "pinched" are for all small block K-19 and tapered for Big Block. What is your experience? see pictures above. Thanks

Never seen a big block, what I thought was original, with the crimped tubes. But I have only had Corvettes for 51 years now

I agree that the big block tubes were the "tapered" variety. Like Dick, I've never seen a "crimped" style big block tube assembly.

For 1966-73 small blocks, I believe all were of the "crimped" style. After 1973 I'm not sure. Some may have been "tapered", particularly later C3.

i had a 67 435 AIR coupe i restored in the '90s. i did a good bit of research when restoring the air system and then contributed that info to roby price for inclusion in the 67 judging manual. i believe taper tubes are appropriate for bbc. in 67. mike

Hi gentlemen, I noticed this discussion as to big block A.I.R. tubes on 67. At Bloomington this year I saw and photographed a beautiful low mile 435 California coupe with many options. It had all original looking parts including all the k19 parts. The car was unrestored and in remarkable condition. The only thing not original I noticed was engine paint and pcv clamps. This car has crimped tubes. I also found clear pictures in M.F. Dobbins c2 fact book ,both crimped and tapered tubes on 67 427's.The first copyright on this book is 1977 so I'm guessing that these tubes most likely were not changed. I have the new 67 JM and it states tapered on production line. I'm wondering if both versions where used in production. As we know more than one design of a part and at various time frames was part of this production line.Any new info would be appreciated. Thanks again to all members. Mark

Mark - we have done further research and found that there may have been both crimps used on big blocks there is nothing completely conclusive as yet. However, there will be an edit on coming out in the 67 TIM & JG if it hasn't already. thanks for your research

My '66 350HP coupe has it's original K19 system intact and functional - here is a picture of one side:

I can get additional pictures for you if you like. My '67 300HP coupe was also a K19 car. I have removed the injector tubes, but have them in storage.
