I have a set of original knock off wheels that need restoration. Any suggestions that I could do this myself or recommendations of a restorer. I have been searching this forum, and the driveline, found nothing?

Re: 66 Knock off wheel restoration, who??
i've done a bunch myself over the years. only case where i have to send out a wheel is if a chunk of aluminum has been broken off by curbing. i'm not that good at aluminum welding. otherwise i simply sand then down with fine sandpaper then follow with 3M pads. mike- Top

Hi Alan,
I read through the below posts and others in the archives. Most are outdated, and the restorers have since retired? Still looking for help.- Top

Re: 66 Knock off wheel restoration, who??
Please let us know if Bill is back doing them again. I had the pleasure of speaking with him a while ago and he wasn't able to do anymore as he lost his welder. I have a set of bolt on's that I would love to send him, but haven't spoken to him lately to find out if he found a new welder....Thanks...ARA- Top

Re: 66 Knock off wheel restoration, who??
Another vote for Bill Wilhelm. I've done a few '65 KO wheel restorations with advice from Bill. He's a great source of knowledge on these wheels and will answer questions you have regarding the process and type of paint and application technics to restore the wheel correctly. Attached are a few pictures of my '65 KO spare that I restored with Bill's advice.
Regards,
James West- Top
