    C2 Fuel Door restore

The plastic insert in my fuel door is cracked. The chrome and backside are nice. Has anyone just cut out the insert from the front and epoxied a new one from the front (after removing the mounting area of the insert), thus not messing up the rivets on the back side.

Seems like it would be possible.

Give it a try, nothing to lose the plastic is already cracked. Try to crack the plastic more to the point of lifting one side above the other. Then split it in quarters. A small Dremel cut off wheel might get it done. Once you have the old one out without destroying the emblem, putting the new one in is easy. You will need to mill off the O.D. of the new lens to fit.
Good luck, show pictures of your progress.

I do plan to use my dremel. I have some cut-off wheels that are supposed to be specifically for plastic.
