Can anyone vouch for Grundy Insurance ??

I'm not sure that this belongs on the tech discussion board, but insuring our prized possessions is about as important as anything else.
I'm thinking about moving my full coverage, Agreed Value Insurance coverage to Grundy, (at a hefty savings as I'm able to lump several
vehicles onto one(1) VIP policy. Before I pull the trigger, has anyone had any experience that they can share regarding Grundy, ie: claims
paid or claims denied ??) thanks, jim b ps: As a seldom-user of the message board, I wasn't sure where else to post my question to other
    corvette owners.

James, I have used Grundy for over 25 years or so. No issues at all. John

Have you looked at insurance through the National Corvette Museum? Think you owe it to yourself to talk with Adam Boca who posts here, save some money, and support the NCM.

John you state "no issues at all". Have you had any claims or incidents to file on? If not obvisoulsy there would be no issues however if you have what were the particulars and how did Grundy handle your claim(s).

          Hi All
Many of our members has pretty substantial claims after Katrina all with good results. They have been very good to deal with.

I had a really bad front end wreck on my 70 Challenger.

They have paid out nearly 65K so far and not one issue at all.

Now - having said that, the balance of the story.....
simply because of underwriting rules and their inability to subrogate against the other insurance company (low $$$ of coverage and lack of personal assets of the insured), they dropped my policy.
The loss ratio was something like 1800% LOL

I contacted Adam Boca from NCM - he was able to get the equivalent insurance for the Challenger and add the 69 Vette too.
The same type of policy and the rates were equitable.
Adam was excellent to work with and very highly recommend them.

FWIW-- in the 11 years I had Grundy (phily indemnity) they were just as good. Rates never rose like crazy each year and the couple fender-benders I had were QUICKLY taken care of.

            Hope this helps some...
            Bill

I've had Grundy (in NJ, previously underwritten by Chubb, and now by Philadelphia Ins. Co.) on 2 Corvettes for 13 years. What I like about them, is the fact that the reimbursement is 100% of agreed value. You state the value of the car and in case of loss, reimbursement is 100% of your price. Another plus is that there is no limitation on mileage.
              Thankfully, I've had no claims.

                  PapaSmurf,

True, but the home office is always expanding where they write policies. Maryland originally was NOT on the list, but effective January 1, 2014 Adam Boca of the NCM can write policies in Maryland. So, when it comes time for renewal in August 2014, my policy will convert to NCM, rather than home office.

I have JC Taylor and had an unpleasant experience. My 68 Z28 was stolen and the original engine blown up (broke 2 rods). They wanted to replace it with a Target Master and wanted me to pay 50%, it is called "Betterment". It took a call to the Regional VP to straighten it out.

I listen to Grundy talk about his insurance on My Classic Car, "No milage restrictions!", so I called them. The first thing out of their mouth was "Milage Restrictions", end of call.

I did a survey of the major providers within the past year and all were within pennies of each other except State Farm which was considerable cheaper (except Street Rods) and my 24 year old son could drive them. State Farm won't insure Street Rods.

We are now licensed in ALMOST every state, except Mass, NC, NY, NH and VT. Every other state we are able to write coverage in.

I have had a towing experience with Hagerty. They were excellent. They actually paid more as they took care of the deductible. I had to wait a long time for a tow, but that wasn't their fault. The representatives on the phone are very helpful. I do believe they are more expensive that others, but I have peace of mind with them.

I have a 66 427 Vert two tops all original car that I have owned since '73, and a 69 Camaro 396/375 SS all original car that I have owned since 1970 1/2, 80 vette I bought new, and a 68 cougar all original car, along with other cars that may not be so original. I can't imagine having these cars insured by anybody other that Hagerty, they are part of the family. kids grew up with them(whole nine yards)It is the service that is important to me and the credibility of the Hagerty name that gives me the piece of mind I need with my small collection. Couple hundred $$ per year savings in premium with all the others just is not worth the risk. IMO.

I have run a bodyshop at a gm dealer for over 30 years. Your insurance agent may tell you anything you want to hear and the ads you see may sound great . But the only time you only find out how good your insurance company is, is when you have a claim with them.
I have hagerty. I had a claim a few years back where i backed one of my cars into another( both insured by hagerty) they paid the whole claim , no hastles, and even paid for the car cover i tore on the one car i hit that was parked.i'm good with hagerty.
