    1966 and 1967 RPO A-85: shoulder harnesses

I am trying to document the appearance and use of silver-Mylar-warning-decals on original shoulder harnesses for 1966 and 1967 Corvettes; when they started using the decals and if every pair included them. Only 37 sets were ordered '66 and 1,436 in '67.

I would like to hear from anyone who believes their '66 or '67 was originally equipped with shoulder harnesses. Specifically, what the C-20 manufacturer and model numbers were [e.g. Hamill RCF-65], whether the long belts have silver Mylar decals on the underside of the buckles and whether that decal is square or rectangular. To compile usable data, please include the complete VIN. If you feel uncomfortable listing that information directly to this forum, please send a private message.

If you have information about this subject, please respond as well.

Michael, a few years ago I bought a used, incomplete set(missing 1 long belt assy), and these were added to a '67 I restored. Not original to this car(early Nov build) but the pictures may help. I have no idea which car vin they came from, but the pieces certainly were original Dark Teal Blue examples. Charlie Santorelli of Seat Belt Sity restored the pieces, and I bought one Long assembly from him to create the full set. Note the label Model# is C20, not C10 as is on the lap belts.

The buckle on the original SH long belt has the RCF-65 stamp. I have no photo of that before restoration, but next post shows pics after restoration with it.

Also note the datecode on the backside of the attach bracket. Date H 6 (Aug 1966)

This was one I bought from Charlie to complete the set. Post restoration....

New reproduction labels were installed on both.

        Hello Michael,

Glad to help here.... I am owner of a 1967 coupe, VIN 05818 built December 12th, 1966 and delivered new to Canada and equipped with the A-85 shoulder belt option and Teal Blue interior (418GG).

The shoulder belts are C20 and have the original sticker on the backside of the buckle. The buckle is a Hamill RCF-65, with the number 4232 on the underside. The date on the tag is not readable, but the date from one of the lap belt reads 35E66 (late Aug/early Sept 1966 approx.) The lap belt retractor stand is dated 7-66.
