    Re: C1 Generator Brace ID

My Nassau car seems to have a standard 884 brace..still in the car. Hard to know where or when it was installed ( this car may or may not have left St.Louis with an FI engine although that is what was ordered by engineering.( and subsequently installed by engineering ).. If you notice there are some other unique parts. Like the oversized generator pulley, pressure relief valve on top of the fuel meter, pre RPO 684 big brakes ( notice the location of the big brake tube brackets, there are unique birthmark welds on the FI base plate..still on the car..etc..

Later the car was used to test the new airbox idea and the prototype FI air filter extension ( like seen on the Bill Mitchell SR2 ) is still on the car.

      Troy -

That's correct - however, what the sheet shows is the brace with its part number, which tells us that the brace was installed at St. Louis; no part number is shown for the bolt at the water pump end, as St. Louis removed that bolt, installed the brace, and re-installed the bolt. In later A.I.M.'s, there would have been a note adjacent to that bolt saying "part of engine assembly".

Any time a part number is called out for a part on an A.I.M. sheet, that part was installed at the car assembly plant; the part number appeared on the A.I.M. sheet because the original Engineering Release for that part released it to the Engineering Bill of Material for the assembly plant, not to the Bill of Material for the Engine Plant.
