1972 LT-1 fuel line (pump to carb)

I am going to replace the fuel line from the pump to the carb and want to stay as original as possible. I have looked at the lines Corvette Central sells and ask if anyone know if they will pass judging?

    It is Item# 353123

FUEL LINE - LT1 STAINLESS STEEL WITH Y BLOCK

If this will not pass does anyone know where I can one that will?

Sorry I was not able to copy a link to Corvette Central.

    Jerome

S/S is an automatic 50% deduction as per the Judging Reference Manual standard deduction then any other items that do not conform to the CDCIF. Here is the steel pipe assembly from Corvette Central.

Do not forget the rear fuel line support bracket.

The inlet fittings on the carburetor should be black plated. Hope this helps.

The original fuel line was not stainless steel. The stainless steel line might get by some judges but I doubt it will fool all. The stainless line does appear very slightly different than the TBW type line originally used. Also, judges with magnets (the use of which I disagree with in the judging process) can easily discern the difference in material.

While I just LOVE stainless steel for just about anything, fuel and brake lines are an exception. The main problem with it is that stainless steel being as hard as it is, it can be difficult to get it to conform for a leak-proof seal at the flared connections.

I'd be surprised if Corvette Central does not have the stock-type TBW fuel lines. Most of the suppliers carry both types.

        Thanks Paul.

Shame on me I knew the line was steel. I was day dreaming when I copied the info to the thread.

Do the steel parts pass muster for judging?

I looked at the link Paul posted and I cannot tell if the Y-block has the dark color that is common on 1972 LT-1. The illustration is just not good enough to tell. I know that color on the Y-block is Available from someplace -- I see it all the time on the cars. Of course I could also be seeing shoe polish.

I forgot about the Y block finish. The reproductions are usually a natural bright brass finish.

Terry is correct regarding that 72's are mostly seen with the block beeing black, but I ahve seen some 72's with the block being a natural brass. Also, I have seen some 71 LT-1's with a black block, but very few.

Thanks for the response to my private message.

The other part of my question; will the steel line from Corvette Central pass judging? I will reuse my Y-block. In fact, I am just replacing the lines from the Y-block to the primary & secondary bowls.

In reality I would prefer to just buy the two short lines but can't find a supply house that will sell these separately. Any thoughts.

Through the years have not seen a Corvette supply house offer the pipes separate/individually from the kit. Most I would think buy this item as a kit to start with then sell them to you. One would ether have to find their supplier or make your own.

Here is a link to the LT-1 steel fuel line with Y-block that we carry.

Stainless Steel Brakes advertises in the Driveline and has fuel lines.
