#4 body mount nut for 1963 coupe

the bolt that holds the body to frame backed out and was laying on the ground under the car (exactly under the bolt hole?). I attempted to screw it back into place but it just spins and does not appear that it is threading into the nut. I can see through the bolt hole what appears to be the nut, but I'm not sure. Possibly the nut has moved within the cage? If I order a new nut can it slip into the cage? or is the cage totaly enclosed, I don't want to go through the trouble of removing the cage and installing a new one and nut. Any suggestions?

    Kennith,

Look in the archives for some good tips about this problem. It's virtually impossible to change this on a coupe but there are some good suggestions.

The Snafu with this mount is that the rivets that hold the cage are put on FIRST, with the flat side being underneath. Then the body mount is put on, covering the flat side of those rivets. Attached photos (63 Coupe ) show depressions in the fiberglass from the heads of the two that hold the cage. The other holes are for the actual body mount, which do not show depressions, because the flat side of those rivets are on the inside.........Did you roll back the carpet on the inside to see what you have, and what condition the cage & bolt is in???
