Dave is excellent. My first TI experience on a 67 L71 a few years ago gave me much trouble. Dave spent time on the phone with me after troubleshooting for a while. His website has great tips and diagnosis flowcharts to help.

I have the same issue with my 67 L68 It looks like the TI pak, & wiring harness are gone. Someone attached an after market TI amp on the fire wall with it's own harness, all of which I'd like to replace, not sure about the coil. How did you restoration back to orginal go?

      Thanks

Al, as mentioned above, I reinstalled a disabled TI system in a L71. The original TI amp box with it's broken internals were still mounted on the front inner skirt, but missing TI harness and TI distributor. I restored the TI module, installed a new K&B Amplifier board, got a M&H repro TI harness, and we found a correct TI distributor right out of a Driveline ad. It was like brand new, had a near perfect ID tag, and was even dated just right for the car built. It had a bad connection in the wiring of the internal pickup coil but I repaired it.

The prior owner removed the original 435HP engine years ago, tired of broken valve springs and eventually destroyed the engine. He installed a 283 from a '64 Chevelle, and had a points distributor. He mounted his ballast resistor on a existing stud on the firewall and didn't drill out the dimple where normal production mounted it.

I restored the car, owner acquired a correct block and tripower and restored the powertrain to original appearance. That TI system with the K&B amp is great. When you turn the key the engine JUMPS to life in about a millisecond. Great system when it's running at peak performance too.

If you don't have a TI distributor, that will be a high cost item. Ours cost around $1000 IIRC. I haven't scoped prices lately. K&B amps are sold by many vendors. I get mine through Zip Corvette.

Below a few pics of the pieces before and after. I highly recommend using the K&B amplifier. Not only are they great products, they carry a LIFETIME warranty. It doesn't get much better. http://kandbcorvetteproducts.com/corvette/ignition/
